Widow says she has lost 'soulmate' after death

THE widow of a man crushed to death at a factory in the South West has said she has lost her soulmate after his death. Kelly Benham said her husband, Lee, was her ‘soulmate, best friend and rock’, adding that his death has left her and their two daughters’ lives ‘in pieces’.

Lee Benham, 45, was killed on Thursday, November 4, 2021 while working as a large goods vehicle driver at Nationwide Platforms Limited’s workshop in Liskeard.

While attempting to move a scissor lift to clear an access path, Lee became trapped between two machines and the scissor lift he tried to move reversed into him.

At Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on December 20, the company, Nationwide Platforms Limited, Leicestershire, was fined £900,000 and ordered to pay £12,405 in costs, after pleading guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
