He will fly to Kyiv tomorrow for three days, around a month after he met Vladimir Putin. The trip is likely to reassure the West that India is being even-handed in its approach to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, after his controversial two-day trip to Moscow in July.
Mr Modi will have talks with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. They previously met on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Japan in May and discussed trade and expanding ties. They have also spoken by phone several times since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Mr Modi will most likely visit Poland as well, the foreign ministry said.
