2 YSRC MPs quit, likely to join TDP
The Morning Standard|August 30, 2024
IN a major jolt to the YSRC, two of its Rajya Sabha members -Mopidevi Venkataramana and Beeda Mastan Rao- on Thursday resigned to their membership of the Upper House.
2 YSRC MPs quit, likely to join TDP

The duo have submitted their resignation to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar and the same were accepted.

The move comes close on the heels of the resignation of a couple of MLCs, Mayors and former MLAs from the YSRC after the party's dismal performance in the recent elections. The resignation of the two members had brought down the number of YSRC MPS in the Rajya Sabha to nine from 11. The TDP, which does not have a presence in the Upper House since April this year with the retirement of Kanakamedala Raveendra Kumar, will once again enter the RS.

Of the two, Mopidevi is a strong loyalist of YS family and served as a minister in late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's Cabinet.

He was jailed in the alleged disproportionate case along with Jagan Mohan Reddy.
