NINETEEN months after the murder of a businessman from Poochakkad and the theft of gold jewellery from his home, the special investigation team has arrested four persons in connection with the case.
Ubais T M, 32, of Uliyathadukka, his wife Shameena K H alias Jinumma, 34, of Meethal Mangad, Asneefa P M, 36, of Poochakkad and Ayesha, 43, of Madhur (accused 1 to 4) have been arrested in connection with the murder of businessman Abdul Gafoor Haji, 55, in April last year.
The first three accused have been charged with murder, while Ayesha has been charged with destruction of evidence. Ubais and Shameena have criminal backgrounds.
As per the SIT, the accused persons duped the businessman by promising to double his gold using black money, and killed him when he demanded the gold back.
Gold jewellery weighing 596 sovereigns had gone missing from Abdul's house after his death. Of this, 29 sovereigns have been recovered.
