28-Year-Old Sentenced to Death for Murdering College Girl in Chennai

A SPECIAL court in Chennai on Monday sentenced a 28-year-old man for brutally murdering a college student by pushing her in front of a moving train in Chennai in 2022, by considering the gravity and nature of the crime.

Mahila Court judge J Sridevi pronounced the quantum of sentence three days after finding D Sathish guilty of the crime, which was investigated by the CB-CID.

"The accused is sentenced to death and be hanged by the neck till he is dead," the judge said in the order. However, the order for capital punishment is subject to confirmation by the Madras High Court, she added, and ordered submission of the entire case records to the HC immediately.
