THE Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has granted Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance for the construction of a road bridge across the Gurupura River, connecting Sulthan Batheri and Thannirbhavi in Mangaluru.
This highly anticipated project is expected to significantly improve connectivity for the people of Bengre and Thannirbhavi villages, providing them direct access to Mangaluru city while bypassing the busy NH-66.
Additionally, the bridge will reduce the distance between Mangaluru city and Thannirbhavi beach, one of the city's prime tourist attractions.
Initially proposed as a hanging bridge, the project has been upgraded to a road bridge to enhance its utility.
