Jaundice outbreak: DMO orders to chlorinate drinking water sources

TO mitigate the impact of the jaundice epidemic prevailing in the district, District Medical Officer Piyush M Namboothiripad has issued a directive mandating the chlorination of all drinking water sources within the district's jurisdiction.

The directive was communicated during an emergency meeting of programme officers convened at the DMO's office to enhance the efficacy of the jaundice prevention measures.

The first two weeks of January will be observed as chlorination week. Support from local self-government bodies, people's representatives and various departments was sought for the same.
