THE Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started investigating the case about the "illegal" construction Pakhro Tiger Safari project in Corbett tiger reserve by "axing 6,000 trees".

The investigation comes following the directions of the Nainital High Court, which had taken a tough stand on the illegal construction and asked the state government why the case should not be investigated by the CBI.
