STRENGTHENED EMPLOYMENT, HRD INITIATIVES
The Philippine Star|December 08, 2024
THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) remains committed to promoting gainful employment opportunities and human resource development as it noted positive trends in the labor market in 2024.
BY ALTHEA LOUISE D. MAJAN

Among the Department's efforts to advance the government's employment agenda include youth employment programs, job fairs, labor market information, TVET, and professional licensure examinations.

Facilitating access to employment opportunities

A total of 172,751 youths were provided with the necessary technical and core/soft skills to facilitate their school-to-work transition through the DOLE's youth employment programs: the Special Program for the Employment of Students, the Government Internship Program, and the JobStart Program.

To facilitate employment at the local level, 1,707 job fairs were conducted, where 63,223 applicants were hired on the spot. In addition, 2.423 million qualified applicants were placed out of the 2.592 million jobseekers referred for employment by the different Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) nationwide.

A total of 4.419 million individuals and 72,281 institutions were provided with timely and accurate labor market information; while 554,550 students were reached through career development support services.
