'Indian Gorkha Janshakti Front will maintain an equidistant stance from both Central and State govts'
STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE

Founder of Darjeeling's Hamro Party and prominent hill leader Ajoy Edwards formally launched a new political outfit today, naming it the Indian Gorkha Janshakti Front (IGJF).

The announcement was marked by the unveiling of the party's flag and a detailed 18-point agenda.

According to political analysts, the IGJF represents a strategic restructuring of Edwards' former party and includes a coalition of prominent leaders from various political parties and organisations.

Notable figures such as NB Khawas, MB Chettri, Prakash Gurung, Pradeep Pradhan, and Narbu Lama have joined the IGJF, signalling an effort to consolidate diverse voices under one banner.

The primary objective of the new party, Mr Edwards stated, is to unify different factions to advocate for the creation of Gorkhaland and safeguard the identity and rights of the Gorkha people.
