Public hearing for expansion of NINL held

With the deployment of massive police force, the public hearing for environmental clearance of Nilachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL)'s proposed expansion was held at JCD-NIMZ office in Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district amid voices of dissent from local stakeholders on Friday.

There was opposition by the local people to stop the public hearing, but the administration kept on continuing the hearing process.

Out of 222 people, some of them vehemently opposed the NINL's proposed expansion while many of them spoke in favour of it.

Organised by the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), the public hearing saw active participation from opponents, proponents and stakeholders including public representatives, intellectuals and local residents.
