AQI improves in Delhi, primary schools to reopen from Nov 9, truck entry ban lifted

As the Air Quality Index (AQI) improved in the national capital Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai today announced that primary schools in the city will reopen from November 9, while the ban on truck entry has also been lifted.

The Delhi Environment Minister also informed that curbs on outdoor activities for secondary school students will also be lifted from November 9.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research SAFAR), the overall AQI of Delhi improved further to 326 in the very poor" category this morning.

The concentration of both PM 2.5 and PM 10in the environment was recorded at 326 under the very poor" category and 205 under poor" category respectively.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good"; 51 and 100 satisfactory"; 101 and 200 moderate"; 201 and 300 poor"; 301 and 400 very poor"; and 401 and 500 severe".

Addressing a press conference here, the Delhi Environment Minister also revoked the 50 per cent work-fromhome policy for government employees, saying that the offices will be back to working with full capacity from Monday onwards.
