Moonstruck delight: Students cheer on India's successful lunar mission

The event has touched upon several Indians residing in different parts of the country and the world, and people have celebrated wholeheartedly. But the most impacted among the huge share of the population were the curious science students, who have been greatly moved and influenced by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Ashmita Samanta, a student of bioprocess engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, says that it made the nation proud when the soft landing was successful. “As a youth, when I viewed the image of a spacecraft gently resting on lunar soil, it ignited an immense amount of appreciation for the team of scientists putting their utmost efforts into it,” she said.

“Understanding the surface of the Moon not only impacts greatly on the Indian economy but also has the potential to discover the lunar geology and seismic activity that will allow us to have a deeper understanding of the Moon’s evolution and its gravitational connection to Earth. Furthermore, this achievement in science will also allow young minds to pursue the field of science and discover the infinite possibilities of the universe,” Ashmita adds.
