Hundreds of tea workers took out a rally at Mirik in Darjeeling district today, H protesting against the decision to provide plots of five decimals of land for 'landless tea workers'.
"We are not landless. We demand land rights over the plot of land where we have been living for more than a hundred years," the tea workers said, raising slogans during the rally today.
The rally was organised under the banner of Cha Bagan Shramik Suraksha Samiti.
Notably, a group of majority trade unions under the banner of Joint Forum has been working in the Hills protesting against the state government's decision to provide 5 decimal land in different locations.
