TEARS AND SMILES AS KATE SEES SHOCK WIMBLEDON WIN
PATRICK HILL
Princess of Wows

THE Princess of Wales took centre stage on Centre Court yesterday and served up a dazzling display for fans at Wimbledon's women's final.

Tennis fan Kate oohed, aahed and gasped along with a near 15,000 crowd as Marketa Vondrousova beat Ons Jabeur.

And the beaming royal certainly aced it in a £460 lime green tweed and chiffon suit by London fashion label Self-Portrait.

The Princess, 41, presented the winner's trophy to a stunned and thrilled Vondrousova - ranked 42 in the world and the first unseeded woman to win Wimbledon.

Kate told her: "It's as much a mental game as it is a physical game, so really impressive and a great game to watch.

"I hope you enjoy this moment. Good luck on your recovery and your down time.

It was lovely to see you." Kate, who wore a purple bow pin as patron of the All England Club, hugged and consoled Jabeur, 28 runner-up for the second year in a row. The popular Tunisian, seeking to become the first grand slam winner from Africa, broke down in tears.

She said of Kate later: "She didn't know to give me a hug or not. I told her hugs are always welcome. That was a very nice moment and she's always nice to me.
