GHMC region logs record rain in Oct, wet weather ahead

The northeast monsoon, which set in the state on October 1, is already in excess in two of the three districts in GHMC region. A 50% excess rainfall has been recorded in Medchal, 38% in Rangareddy district, while Hyderabad saw a 5% deficit.

As per indications, experts note it is likely to maintain this tempo as this year the city is already seeing the combination of two weather patterns, a trough, and the retreating southwest monsoon winds bringing in more rains. Of 33 districts, 13 logged excess or large excess categories when it comes to rains in October.

As per normal conditions, October sees a normal rainfall of 90-96 mm in the three districts Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal. However, in just 10 days, the three districts had recorded 59mm, 78.8mm, and 69.1 mm respectively.
