Mumbai: After the price of sliced bread increased twice this year, the cost of the humble pav has now gone up to Rs 5 apiece from Rs 3.50-4 in 2021.
Retailers in Andheri Lokhandwala and Bandra-Khar are now charging Rs 5 apiece up from Rs 4, Vile Parle Rs 4 up from Rs 3 whereas Mahim and Nagpada are levying Rs 3 as compared to Rs 2.50 earlier.
Bakeries and suppliers have raised rates by 50 paise to a rupee per piece as recently as October. They say all input costs have spiralled recently.
The Indian Bakers Association (IBA) did not respond to TOI’s requests for comment.
