As Covid graph sees a dip in state, H1N1 cases surge to 5-year high

As Covid-19 fades, other communicable diseases have started to make a comeback in the state. In fact, some infectious diseases like influenza H1N1 are now witnessing a surge in incidence, the highest in five years.

Data shared by the public health department on Monday showed that active cases of Covid have dropped by 54% over the last 40 days from 12,808 on August 1 to 5,862 on September 12. Deaths are down to single digits for almost 50 days now.

However, it's infectious diseases like H1N1 and dengue that have kept hospitals and doctors on their toes for the past 3 months. While dengue cases are much lower than last year, the confirmed cases have crossed 3,200 with the peak dengue season still ahead. Over 600 cases of Chikungunya have also been reported, and the numbers this year will most likely surpass the 782 in 2020.
