Oppn bloc may not get BJD & YSR backing on Prez polls

New Delhi: Two crucial regional players, YSRCP of Jaganmohan Reddy and BJD of Naveen Patnaik, are reluctant to side with any opposition attempt at posing a challenge to BJP in the upcoming President's election, sources claimed.

As the chatter gathers pace over the election to the highest post, those who reached out to the two parties in individual capacity found them averse to any bid to make the polls a "partisan affair", a shorthand for opposing BJP. According to opposition sources, leaders who spoke to them found them unwilling to take on BJP. "They don't want any clash with the ruling party, nor are they interested in making a political statement. Both said that they have stayed away from formations tagged as a pro or anti-government, and they are inclined to stick to that stance," a senior opposition leader told TOI.
