3 killed as goods train crashes into Odisha stn

In a freak accident early Monday, three women were killed and four others injured when eight wagons of a speeding goods train crashed into the waiting hall of Odisha’s Korai station after one of them derailed and caused the rest to jump the tracks.

Authorities said the goods train was to speed past Korai station in Jajpur, 100 km from Bhubaneswar, but ended up ploughing into the station area. After a preliminary probe, AM Choudhary, commissioner of railway safety (eastern zone), said the door flap of a wagon was left open, which rammed against the platform and possibly resulted in the derailment.
