Body Of Evidence: How Skull Imaging May Unlock Murder

New Delhi: A city court has granted permission to Delhi Police to conduct a superimposition test on the body and skull of a 59-year-old man who was kidnapped from Janakpuri and murdered in a car.

His body was later doused with petrol and dumped in Greater Noida. Police had recovered the skull and parts of the limbs from a drain.

The man, Ashit Sanyal, stayed alone in Janakpuri.

His elder brother, Amit, had passed away. In the absence of a family member to facilitate a DNA test, police will now conduct a superimposition test. The test is done on a skull by superimposing images and then matching it with a photograph. The technique was earlier done manually, but now can be done digitally.
