Vadodara/ Ahmedabad: Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday said while Congress incited riots to strengthen its vote bank, the Narendra Modi-led Gujarat government “taught a lesson” to those perpetrators in 2002 to bring perennial peace in Gujarat. The state has not witnessed a curfew ever since, he said addressing a public rally in Mahudha in Kheda district.
At another rally in Naroda in Ahmedabad, which witnessed one of the worst riots in 2002, Shah said, “Congress talks of peace, but it doesn’t suit them. Congress is responsible for communal riots in Gujarat. In 2002, a mischief was played but the BJP government was in place. All mischief mongers were taught a lesson and put behind bars. Gujarat has been peaceful ever since.”
