Many elderly compelled by children to make will: Study

Drawing from interactions with 500 elderly citizens surveyed in Delhi and NCR earlier this month, the report concludes that the "fear of family disputes in future" is the primary factor driving elders to make a will. Also a significant number of elderly said they were compelled or were being pressured to make a will by their children.

The survey reinforces the trend that making a will has clearly been gaining momentum over the last few years, particularly since the pandemic. As many as 60% (298) of those surveyed shared that they have made a will and 65% ( 132 out of 202) of those remaining said they will prepare one in the future. However, 20% (39) elderly said they were unsure and 15% said they are not interested in will at all.
