New Delhi:

While the order also bans entry of trucks and plying of diesel medium and heavy goods vehicles, with the exception of those carrying essential items like food or those running on CNG or electric engines, it also restricts BS-III petrol cars and non BS-VI diesel cars.

Apart from the national capital, non BS-IV compliant diesel cars have also been banned in the neighbouring NCR districts. Delhi has over 33.8 lakh private cars of which about three lakh are BS-IV diesel and over two lakh BS-III petrol cars.
