Mithali isn’t as expressive as me, so had to control those emotions: Taapsee

Taapsee Pannu, who plays the lead character in the movie, says that though she loves sports, there was a time when she didn’t know about the women’s cricket team. “When I read about Mithali’s statement ‘Do you ask a male cricketer who their favourite female cricketer is?’, it made me notice her, and in turn, the women’s cricket team. Then, a couple of years later, I got this opportunity to play her and it somehow felt like I might have manifested it in a way to correct my mistake through my medium,” shares Taapsee.

The actress, who has worked in sports films like Rashmi Rocket in the past, says that though this genre of films is physically and emotionally draining, she wanted to do a movie like Shabaash Mithu. She believes that when films and cricket come together, it can create fireworks.

Cricket and movies are two big religions in this country, and when they come together, I expect fireworks: Taapsee
