New Delhi:

Emphasising that a prisoner does not cease to be a human being and the stoppage of diet and the delay in checkups are gross violations of his fundamental right to life and well-being under Article 21 of the Constitution, Jain said, “The restriction on liberty imposed by law does not take away right to life, health and dignity enshrined under the Constitution of India.”

Meanwhile, the hearing of Jain’s contempt petition against Enforcement Directorate (ED) was deferred on Monday as special judge Vikas Dhull was on leave. Jain has alleged that ED has leaked the CCTV video of his Tihar cell despite giving an undertaking in the court.
