New Delhi: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) took out a ‘Sankalp Yatra’, from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar, on Saturday morning to protest against the killings of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal and Umesh Kolhe in Amravati. The participants expressed their support for the former national spokesperson of the BJP, Nupur Sharma, and asserted that India would be run according to the Constitution and not Sharia.
The march started from the Mandi House roundabout around 10.45 am and was joined by a large number of people, including political leaders and Hindu sants. Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta, Kapil Mishra and Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga had joined the crowd.
Kamal Sharma, who was holding up a photograph of Kanhaiya Lal, said: "We want to give a message to the people who are spreading anarchy in the country -- that India stands united." The protesters were saying that the Udaipur beheading had set a wrong precedent and that’s why Hindus should come together to stop such acts.
