Sigma 16 mm f/1.4 DC DN | ₹48,000
The lens on review is the Sigma 16 mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Nikon Z-mount.
Design & Build Quality
Even though this is a Contemporary lens and not an Art lens, the build quality is very good and the lens exhibits a great finish. The lens is compact and light in weight (405 g). The lens mount is made from brass for strength and durability. A rubber seal at the mount prevents dust and water splashes from entering the lens. The lens is made in Japan.
Key Features
Lens nomenclature: ‘DC’ indicates lens is designed for APS-C sensor cameras; ‘DN’ indicates that the lens is designed for Mirrorless cameras.
The Sigma 16 mm f/1.4 Contemporary lens for Nikon Z mount is constructed with 16 elements in 13 groups that include 2 x SLD (Super Low Dispersion) elements, 3 x FLD (‘F’ Low Dispersion) elements and 2 x molded glass aspherical elements — to control chromatic aberrations, reduce inherent lens distortions and thereby improve overall image quality. The equivalent focal length in 35 mm full frame is 24 mm. Super Multi-layer Coating is used on the lens elements to reduce flare and ghosting – this improves contrast and colour fidelity. At the rear end, the lens has eleven gold plated contacts for communicating the data to the camera body and back.
