Hyderabad pair of Ram Babu and Mahinder came out triumphant winning the pro-Modified class in the third Edition of the Hampi Offroad Challenge organised by Motorsports Association of Vijayanagar-Hampi (MAVH) in Hampi recently.
Naveen and Giri also from Hyderabad dominated the stock class. The event had over 14 participants in fray with a mix of both day as well a few night stages held at the Hill-top and foot hills of Rajapur on the outskirts of Hospet. The Stock class had a total of six stages which were part of Day 1 that included a night stage and four stages were in the menu for Day 2. The event was postponed from its original schedule due to flooding en route due to uninterrupted seasonal rains.
The pair of Naveen and Giri from Hyderabad driving a stock, justpurchased Mahindra Thar won the Diesel class with a total points of 931 without any Admin penalty. They dominated on Day 1 with 559 points and with 372 on Day 2, they managed to reach the top. They also managed to score a full 100 points in Stage 5 which was the last day stage, before going into the night stage.
The pair of Sunil V and Varun Kumar from Bengaluru finished second with just a two-point deficit. They were the only pair to score 100 points thrice this season in the class. They were in second position on Day 1 with two points difference, which included 30 admin penalties and on Day 2, managed to score 372 points with 100 points in SS8. They scored a perfect-100 in Stage 4 and Stage 6, a night stage.
