INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE 2024: CAN LSG REPEAT A HAT-TRICK OF PLAYOFFS?

Lucknow Super Giants have done reasonably well since becoming a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022. Across the last two seasons, LSG reached the playoffs. Lucknow finished third in the points table in both seasons before losing the Eliminator clashes against RCB and MI. This season, the KL Rahul-led side will be keen to perform consistently, reach the last four, and take it from there. LSG have most of their core retained, and that bodes well for the side. Ahead of the auction, they traded in Devdutt Padikkal to bolster the batting and let Avesh Khan go the other way. KL Rahul, who missed the latter stages of IPL 2023, will be back at the helm. However, he missed the England Test series due to injury. A lot depends on how he fares from an injury return. The IPL 2024 auction saw Lucknow bolster the bowling. They roped in David Willey and Shivam Mavi in the pace department. Ashton Turner was roped in to bolster the batting. Uncapped M Siddarth saw LSG shell out the cash for him.

LSG suffered a blow when Mark Wood pulled out, as the ECB wanted him fresh for the T20 World Cup. LSG got Shamar Joseph as Wood’s replacement. Also, LSG saw mentor Gautam Gambhir leave for KKR.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, we analyse the squad of LSG.
