THE ZOOZ URBAN HAILS FROM Chicago, and its shiny chromed-steel frame and classic unicrown fork ape the classic BMXs of the 1980s. It also sports rider-friendly 24-inch Cruiser-like wheels and an epically long Chopper-style seat sans backrest that also doubles up as a cover for the large removable battery.
The Zooz Urban comes in three models: this UK-legal 250W version and two much more powerful options (a 750W and a 1100W model).
With an immovable saddle, the Zooz isn't exactly what you'd call practical: we'd describe it as 'BMX lounger'. But the more I rode it, the more I enjoyed the experience. It's not a bike designed for long commutes, though the 576Wh battery has given me an exceptional range of 45 miles or more between charges.
The Zooz handles nimbly and the steep head angle and tall bars feel instantly familiar to anyone with BMX experience in their past. The big, rounded Kenda tyres have plenty of grip so you can zip this through corners, or even carve your local skate park with confidence. Sweeping through traffic and taking shortcuts down steps, launching off curbs and cutting through parks and paths is the Zooz's forte.
