The South East

From the Garden of England in Kent down to the Isle of Wight and up through
The South East

London into the home counties, this region offers something for everyone

South-east England boasts more courses of all kinds than any other region of Britain for the simple reason that it is the most densely populated. It may not be the most prolific region for links golf, but what it has is mostly of a very high calibre, especially the concentrated cluster of Open Championship venues around Sandwich and Deal – Royal St George’s, Royal Cinque Ports and Prince’s. There’s also Hayling close to Portsmouth and quintessentially English Rye down in East Sussex. There are also clifftop options with glorious views at the likes of Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight, Seaford Head in Sussex and Walmer and Kingsdown in Kent.

Moving inland, both North and South Downs get fairly close to 1,000ft in places and many courses on top offer truly life-affirming views on the right day, from Goodwood down near Chichester up to Effingham near Leatherhead.
