The return of Kermit Erasmus to Orlando Pirates on transferdeadline day in September after mutually terminating his Mamelodi Sundowns contract was described as a major coup in the football fraternity considering the striker's previous history.

He joined a side that hardly looked convincing in the final third in spite of ticking all the other boxes - good buildups, organised defence and creating enough chances to bury the opposition. according to coach José Riveiro.

With the Spaniard's appointment, a lot was expected to change, especially after the Soweto giants went into the market to strengthen the squad, adding two additional strikers to the ones already there.

Evidence Makgopa and Bienvenu Eva Nga joined Terrence Dzvukamanja, Kwame Peprah and Zakhele Lepasa... but after six matches, Pirates had only scored four goals, and with only one of them credited to a forward. The signing of Erasmus made sense.
