That result left the bottom side ten points from safety. It was extended to 11 in midweek when Crawley drew 1-1 against Grimsby.
Sacked
The defeat to the Red Devils proved the last game in charge for boss Jim Bentley, who was sacked on Monday. The long-serving Jim McNulty has taken interim charge of the team until the end of the season, starting with yesterday’s game at AFC Wimbledon.
