PEACE flows easily in the mountains, like the unheralded tunes of an inspired musician or the hurried tattle of women in a village knitting club. As I looked around at the lofty mountains and lush green valleys, ensconced in the comfort of a cable car, an unusual sense of tranquillity coursed through my body. Peace that is typically elusive seemed like a trusted ally on the hills of Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh. These hills are home to Moksha Himalaya Spa Resort, a luxury wellness retreat, also the location of our October cover shoot.
Actor Mouni Roy, our cover star, took a deep breath as she got down from the cable car, and with a visible cheerfulness said, “What I like about the mountains is the peace that comes with it. You get to connect with your inner self. For me, mountains are a spiritual experience.”
True to its name, the resort offers contentment amidst commanding views of the Shivalik Range, unsullied air, and a cloak of silence. As we set foot in the property, it was hard to miss the minimalist, clean architecture that appeared to collaborate with the nature around. We wanted to capture the scenic outdoors before the weather played truant. So, we took our first shot on the we laid-out paths with the mountains and pine trees in the backdrop. Roy, in a black dress and white fur coat, looked perfectly at home here.
