Depression, drugs & Diana HARRY’S MOST TELLING INTERVIEW

For years, he wasn’t able to tell his story in his own words. But now that Prince Harry has started talking – in both his memoir Spare and the docuseries he made with wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex – it seems he can’t stop.

And after Harry stirred up more controversy in a live-streamed therapy session with a trauma specialist, royal experts say the time has come for the prince to stop playing the blame game and moaning about his family.

Comments Harry made in the online interview to further promote Spare, which was released two months ago, have led to more backlash against him, with many commentators pointing out that the King’s second son is digging a deeper hole for himself by continuing to talk about his problems with his family.

Describing Harry as a “media junkie prince”, royal author Tom Bower says the Duke of Sussex seems to be “unable to survive without constantly moaning about his misery”.

“He is monetising his victimhood amid a continuing diatribe against his family.”

However, Harry, 38, says negative reactions only prompt him to talk more. “The more they criticise, the more I feel the need to share.”

He opened up to Dr Gabor Mate, an author and trauma expert, about his longstanding issues, including the pain he felt at losing his mother, Princess Diana, when he was just 12. The session, which was watched by an audience who each paid $37 to log in, included the revelation that he always felt different to the rest of his family, as did his mum. “I felt strange being in this container. And I know that my mum felt the same.”
