I’m hoping, when you read this, that a) you’ll have had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy that a) you'll have had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and b) that I was able to safely execute the delivery of the main Christmas present to my daughter and son-in-law.

That being five child-free days where I have the children in the Hokianga, and the adult children have unimagined freedom and sleep-ins in Auckland.

I love being able to give the parents of my grandchildren time off. They work full-time and they're hands-on parents who really put time and effort into their children. They don't take them for granted and they're far better parents than I ever was. So it's nice to give them a break every now and then.
