It's always one of the highlights of the royal calendar the military spectacle that marks the official birthday of the British Monarch. And this year, the Trooping the Colour pageant was an extra-special occasion because it was the first for the new King, Charles III.
It was also the first time in 37 years that the Monarch has ridden a horse in the event. The late Queen, Elizabeth II, stopped riding after she turned 60 in 1986. But the King, 74, decided to make his first Trooping the Colour particularly memorable by making his way from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade on horseback.
His horse, Noble, proved to be somewhat skittish but His Majesty, an accomplished rider since childhood, was able to keep him under control.
