Davina McCall may be what social media likes to call 'total body goals' but the hasn't always D 55-year-old been in the incredible shape she's in now. Back in the days before she discovered exercise she worried about her wobbly bits and cellulite just like everyone else, but after meeting two local personal trainers she transformed her life and her abs! We chatted to the ever-cheery TV presenter and mum of three about how we can follow in her healthy footsteps in 2023.
It's a new year and we all want to get back in shape after Christmas. Help! Don't worry, I get it! The first thing I would say is if it's at all possible try to create a space in your home where you can work out, even if it's just one corner of a room where you can keep things
like your mats, weights or bands so that they're ready when you are. That's my top tip.
Has anything changed for you health-wise recently?
Once I turned 50, I knew it was time to start taking proper good care of myself.
And the best things you can do for your body for long-term health are a good diet and exercise.
Are there any foods you avoid?
"I'm not gluten intolerant so I can eat bread and pasta and feel absolutely fine, but I'm getting a little bit funny about dairy. I also feel terrible after I've had a sugar binge. I'm an all-or-nothing person when it comes to sugar and it makes me feel quite sick. I know it's not good for my wellbeing. We have to listen to what our bodies are telling us as we get older. I've been
banging on about sugar for so long, and I've known for ages it doesn't suit me, but it tastes so goddam good. I used to think I couldn't survive without three sugars in my tea and I literally had to train myself out of it. We can do it but it takes a bit of sacrifice to form new habits.
