'Wa' is the Japanese art of balance, and it can help you live a richer, more fulfilling life
Live longer, healthier and HAPPIER the Japanese way!

A healthy lifestyle isn't just about eating vegetables or getting enough exercise. It's about living meaningful and fulfilling lives that are in balance with four wellbeing pillars. Here's how.

Move

Embed what fits Exercise doesn’t just mean working out or going to the gym. It can be the kind of exercise already weaved into your lifestyle, like walking. Incorporate movement into activities you would be doing anyway and make exercise feel less like a chore and more like a natural part of daily life.

Follow joy When exercise is done in the right spirit it will make us feel stronger, more confident and more energetic. Some days you might want to sweat and feel exhausted, while others you may want to exercise in peace and quiet. It doesn’t need to be routine. What movement should ultimately be is what you feel like doing at any given moment.

Mind your environment One of the most scientifically backed effective spaces to improve our mood and motivation is one of the most accessible – outdoors. Shinrin-yoku is the practice of spending time in nature, and is clinically recognised as an effective form of healthcare in Japan. Get outside often.

Empower yourself Rather than be motivated by shame or frustration, take on an attitude of empowerment when it comes to exercise. Instead of focusing on what is to be accomplished, we can put focus into the journey and go into it with an open attitude – experiment and discover what you like and don’t like.
