"I didn’t become a dog owner until my late 30s and now, I regret wasting all those years. They’re wonderful companions who get you out in the fresh air, exercising on daily walks and meeting people along the way. Recent research has shown that dogs boost social interactions by an amazing 69% and, if you’re single, they’re a great way to be chatted up!
My Border terrier Angus’ favourite walk is beside the Thames near our Buckinghamshire home. When we moved down from Scotland four years ago, he was a brilliant ice-breaker as we chatted to other people on the river path. I’m generally wearing a hoodie with no make-up on, so I reckon he’s even better known than me!
