Shower Them with Love!

Generally, our words, deeds, and gifts convey our love. More often, we easily verbalise anger, resentment and frustration, but are much more reticent when it comes to love, thanks, apologies and appreciation! "Love is never having to say sorry!" from 'Love Story' the movie may have traction, but is it right? Aren't those we love most, we must apologise to because their feelings and happiness are so important to us? Shouldn't we be indifferent to them, as we can, if at all, to strangers? In fact, we apologise copiously to strangers, primarily to safeguard our external image, as tutored from childhood but fail to do so for our nearest and dearest.

They might have understood the reason for our adverse behaviour and forgiven us even before we asked them to, but can we really be at peace with ourselves unless we apologise anc receive forgiveness?

The Magic Of An Apology

Apologising is very difficult for some egos. If only this false sense of pride can be better understood how easy it's to apologise, it can clear the air and generate a great deal of warmth. I understood this very well and, believe me when I say that my inflated ego was not hurt when I apologised to a colleague about a totally unwarranted argument I got into with him one day. Both being tired, our arguments soon turned ugly. As I fretted and fumed all night, I suddenly realised it was actually my verbal assault that was keeping me awake.
