The reason, say experts: Potatoes pack a payload of blood pressure– lowering potassium, which takes strain off the heart. In fact, investigators at Purdue University determined eating about one large boiled or baked potato daily lowered people’s blood pressure as effectively as taking potassium supplements. And in good news for women who prefer sweet potatoes, they’re packed with heart-smart potassium too!
