Digital domination is upon us
The festive season countdown has started. Having a few friends who absolutely love Christmas, I am being bombarded with their festive posts on my social media channels. As much as I personally am not the biggest fan of this time of year in Europe, I must admit, I very much look forward to a few lazy days spent soaking up the slightly softer Middle Eastern sun on Dubai’s beaches, and enjoying cooler evenings catching up with friends in rooftop bars, which are, once more, full to their legal limits.
However, despite my new festive wake-up alarm installed on my phone (this is as far as I will go), I’m still very much focused on our core subjects: cars and luxury lifestyle, to bring the same quality of editorial work, and your weekly portion of “cool” and “wow” to keep you updated on trends and recent news.
Last week we took something really special for a spin on Dubai’s streets. Think of Volvo, and tell me what you see. You will probably picture a perfect family packing a few pieces of luggage into their estate car for a weekend trip through the lush, green, Swedish countryside. You are not alone, 80 per cent of the global population pictures Volvo as a perfect, safe family car. But what would happen if the motorsport specialists from Polestar got their speedy little hands on a Volvo? Well, the result of that kind of experiment, would be the Volvo V60 Polestar edition, which is not only rare, but also puts the brand right in the middle of the sporty German crowd. What a transformation.
I played a little silly game recently with a friend of mine while waiting for a meal in a restaurant. We were trying to count how many people were wearing a pair of jeans. It is not the best way of spending time (we should talk to each other really), but it inspired me to reach for denim’s history books.
