World championship points do not always give a true picture, thus with a little help from the experts at Auto Motor und Sport we have compiled our own report card for all 24 drivers on the grid. 
Fernando Alonso is easily top gun so far this season, but there are some surprises along the way as we rate each driver, comment on his performance and offer some advice to each of them.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was an amazing race, Undoubtedly the best of the year and right up there among the classics in the seven star setting of the Yas Marina Circuit.
Kimi Raikkonen took one of the most popular victories in recent memory. Sebastian Vettel drove the race of his life from the back of the field to third place and Fernando Alonso reduced the points gap at the top of the table to ten points with two rounds to go.

Sebastian Vettel versus Fernando Alonso with four to go – and all the rest a sideshow. As it stands Vettel and Red Bull have the momentum and will be hard to stop. But, if anyone can stop Vettel it is the bull fighter from Oviedo, throughout the season he has defied the odds time and again.

Sebastian Vettel tops the F1 world championship standings and looks to be heading for his third title. Fernando Alonso and Ferrari, are the only ones capable of preventing the German’s treble. Ironically Alonso is also hunting a treble. We have a bull fight on our hands. Alonso versus Vettel. In this issue we have the Korean Grand Prix covered from A to Z, including McLaren’s woeful weekend, all the drivers' views from Yeongam and a Big Picture tribute to Renault’s 200th grand prix pole position. Also making the headlines was Ferrari extending Felipe Massa’s contract.

The tide has turned and although Sebastian Vettel is still four points adrift of Fernando Alonso, he and Red Bull have the momentum with five races left to run while Ferrari is floundering. It’s Alonso versus Vettel, and it is war!

In its brief history on the F1 calendar, Singapore has always delivered drama and incident packed races and the 2012 edition was no different. It is always great to see Sebastian Vettel on the top step of a podium where he is genuinely at his happiest and most noble. Michael Schumacher grabbed headlines but for all the wrong reasons, Lewis Hamilton was the unluckiest guy on race day when he was forced to park with a gearbox failure, Fernando Alonso again popped up on the podium against the odds, Jenson Button picked up the pieces for McLaren. We mourn the passing of Professor Sid Watkins, but at the same time we salute the massive role he played in making F1 and (by implication) motor racing in general a much safer sport. 
We also salute the return of Robert Kubica to competition, after over a year of silence the former Lotus driver is back on the winning track.

Italian Grand Prix came and went as if in fast forward mode, and thus ended the European leg of the 2012 season.
Lewis Hamilton left his personal sagas in his motorhome to deliver the kind of performance that has made him one of the most popular drivers of this generation.

Formula 1 safety is again a hot topic after the dramatic Turn 1 incident at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix. F1 safety measures did the job at Spa-Francorchamps, so \"if it ain\'t broke don\'t fix it\" rather let\'s have a pat on the back for all concerned who made the most dangerous sport in the world safer than playing soccer.

Jenson Button\'s dominant victory is central to this action packed issue with bits and pieces on Grosjean, Maldonado, Schumacher\'s 300th and our regular race weekend reports.

33 days can go by very, very slowly. Formula 1 has enjoyed a month long break with fans, drivers and teams - itching for the action to get started again!
We look at Kimi Raikkonen’s chances of scoring his fifth win at Spa-Francorchamps. If it is anywhere he is going to score that elusive comeback win, it should be in Belgium.

Not the biggest edition of Grand Prix International, but with the world of Formula 1 in an enforced mid-season break, news has not been thick on the ground.
We have done our best to ascertain who is holidaying where, managed an interview with Ferrari\'s Pat Fry, have a revealing chat with Rubens Barrichello, Pedro de la Rosa talks about life at the back and interviews with Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez.
News from Mercedes, Red Bull, HRT and to crown it all we have some top notch images from Red Bull’s showcar run in Copenhagen.

It’s been an incredible season so far, and paying tribute to it we have this 300 page special review of the first 11 races, coinciding with the (mandatory) mid-season break for the Formula 1 world.
The common denominator in all the races is Fernando Alonso, the Spaniard having scored points in every round and also tallying up three race wins and thus goes on vacation with a healthy - albeit fragile - 40 points lead.

The British Grand Prix weekend was a big one for Mark Webber, made even bigger a few day afterwards as Red Bull confirmed him for yet another year in the team.
The Silverstone weekend started off very wet - then all was forgiven as the sun shone brightly for the race itself, which turned out to be an intriguing affair as Webber turned the tables on Alonso. 
There were a interesting sideshows including: the Maldonado vs Perez, Massa’s renaissance, Kobayashi’s ten pin bowling pitstop and no show by McLaren; plus all the bits & pieces that make up a grand prix weekend. We have all of it covered.

Fernando Alonso is no stranger to momentous wins - one need only look back on his career at Ferrari for wins that defied predictions, starting with his first race for the Maranello squad...

Incredibly, Montreal delivered the seventh winner out of seven races. Lewis Hamilton - love him or not - thrived on the script that fate dished out to him, dealing with the circumstances with a new found maturity.
It was also great to see the ‘new’ faces of Romain Grosjean and Sergio Perez back on the podium - the pair rapidly establishing themselves as part of the new force in the sport.

Early May is always a bittersweet month, no matter what year, as we are confronted with memories of two fatal accidents which stole from us two of the sport’s most loved stars – Ayrton Senna (1 May 1994) and Gilles Villeneuve 8 May 1982) – we did our Ayrton homage in the last issue and this week we pay tribute to Gilles.

Prior to the Bahrain Grand Prix world champions Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel were being written off. They simply were not the dominant force of a year earlier. It’s is always great for F1 when a driver wins his first grand prix, a coming of age no matter how young or old the driver is - in this instance, after another action packed race, Nico Rosberg finally did the business. Rosberg’s victory in China for Mercedes on Sunday made him only the third son of a winning Formula One driver to triumph in the sport since the championship started in 1950. Graham Hill and Damon Hill, Gilles Villeneuve and Jacques Villeneuve - now Nico and Keke Rosberg. Both Villeneuve and Hill (of junior variety) went on to become world champions....
