In this context, we must examine the recent findings of the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) regarding the Department of Home Affairs' regulation of migration agents and the broader implications for the VET sector.

The ANAO's audit has exposed significant shortcomings in the Department of Home Affairs' oversight and enforcement of regulatory standards for migration agents. The revelations of automated approvals for agent re-registration, lack of action on complaints, and absence of oversight on continuing professional development (CPD) paint a disturbing picture of a regulatory framework that is failing to uphold its core responsibilities.
