It the peak of summer in the Northern hemisphere, the weather is gorgeous
and kids and adults are outside taking part in various sports activities. This is
also the month for the biggest, grandest sports event in the whole world – The
Olympics. Already hundreds of athletes from around the world are making
their way to Brazil for the Rio Summer Olympics. This year’s event takes place
between August 5th and ends on August 21st and will feature 206 teams
competing for medals in 28 sports.

For a lot of athletes the Olympics is the pinnacle of their career. It gives them
a chance to prove that they are the best in the world. This is what they have
worked for day after day – showing the importance of putting effort in the
right activities. For a lot of athletes it is their breakout moment, look out for
these people during the Olympics.

In this month’s issue, we trace the history of the Olympics from Ancient
Greece to the start of the modern Olympics all the way to Rio, Brazil. We are
take a look at some breakout athletes and world record holders that you might
want to keep an eye out for during the Olympics. Along the way we take a
short trip to London, England the location of the last Olympics and sample
some yummy food.

Sports are important for a strong and healthy body. This is also mentioned in
Hadith and the Quran. So go out and exercise. We look forward to seeing some
of you in an Olympics in the future.

Architecture is a wonderful subject. It combines both design and engineering; provides a meeting point for beauty and function. It serves a practical purpose - the building of private spaces - our homes and public spaces - museums, centers, parks and schools. And it provides the artists amongst us with a medium for expressing their creativity with the use of bricks and cement, glass and steel. It gives a platform for our scientists and researchers to further expand the boundaries with the creation of new materials - stronger, lighter, more flexible and more durable to the elements of nature. And it allows the dreamers in our midst with a blank canvas to create pure magic and raise structures that survive generations and bear testimony to the indomitable human spirit.

This month we celebrate architecture. Join us on this unique journey through the past and discover the hidden genius of the civilizations that have lived before us.

In this month’s cover story we look into the history of the internet. How did we, as a society move in less than 150 years from the telephone and telegram to the internet and email, Facebook and Youtube. We will also look to the future and see what we can expect in the next 10 years and beyond.

Allah (SWT) Himself planned for His last messenger - the journey of Isra’ and

gift that the Prophet (SAW) brought back from this journey - the gift of Salah.

or a duty was actually given as a gift by Allah (SWT) to the prophet (SAW)
on the seventh heaven itself. How amazing is that? And that’s what Salah
should be for us too - a chance to talk and connect with Allah (SWT) and to
feel His love and closeness to us. When we experience Allah’s love we will
start to enjoy our Salah and treasure this precious gift.

It is spring time! The glory of Allah’s creation is intensified in
this season. Nature is alive with the sound of birds, chirping and
tweeting around you - alhamdulilah.

In this issue, read about birds in their different habitats. Explore
the science of gliding. It will help you understand the nature of
flight and wonder at how Allah swt helps birds fly. Relax with an
interesting story from the Quran and a short fiction story too.

Muhammad (PBUH) and the benefits of following his Sunnah in our day-to-day lives.

The health page gives you a list of foods which were not only our Prophet (PBUH)’s
