In this issue

Welcome to issue 177 of The GameOn Magazine! So many games shown during Not-E3! Over 400 at my count, which is more than last year despite what celebrity videogames-adjacent personalities had claimed. Although they actually didn’t have one more thing…

Articles this month look at cheaters, backlogs, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance. There are looks back, looks ahead, and generally this issue looks all over the place. One of our writers played Helldivers 2 and realised that it’d be a good starting block for a Warhammer game, in case liberty is what you need this month.

In the preview section we have a bunch of Early Access titles, with Alana sliding a Sledders, Mike deciding it’s Time to Morp, and Tina digging for the Roots of Yggdrasil. Also, Violet drank the BattleJuice Alchemist, while Luke got loaded on Cabernet.

Finally, the reviews have us playing catch-up with some of the great and not-so-great games released over the past few months. Adam entered A Living Room while Dylan visited the POOLS, and Alyssa sniffed some Distant Bloom. Meanwhile, Joshua raised the Undead Inc., Alana scritched the Little Kitty, Big City, and Violet planned Rusty's Retirement!

There’s plenty more, of course, so just get to reading and GameOn until next issue!

So I Tried... Papa's Freezeria Deluxe

Dylan played a game - Each edition of So I Tried… I will try a game that I have never played before. Will I find something new to love? Will I find something new to despise? I'll take a full half hour to see if this is the game for me, no matter how bad it gets or how badly I do, to see if this is the game for me. This time I decided to go and play Papa’s Freezeria Deluxe. I admit this was an impulse buy because I saw a few streamers playing it, and I decided to give it a go.

Valve, Anti-cheat, And Privacy

One of the biggest complaints the community has about Counter-Strike 2 is the amount of cheaters present in high-ranked matches.

From the Top: God of War (2018)

Just under a year ago, I started my own little Heraclean task of playing through the whole of the God of War series — at least the ones I could get my hands on— all to prepare myself for the soft reboot of the series, God of War (2018).

HELLDIVERS 2 Could Hold the Key to the Warhammer Game We Really Want

I recently started playing HELLDIVERS 2, and, while it has become something of an obsession, I had a thought: I was playing as an underequipped, undertrained recruit of a vaguely sinister regime against hordes of alien enemies. I was, in essence, an imperial guardsman.

Time to Morp

With the recent preview of Time to Morp in this issue, the lovely folks over at Team HalfBeard took some time out of their schedule to talk to us before its release.

Sledders

If you have ever had the opportunity to ride a snowmobile, I have a game that allows you to recreate that experience and won’t require you to freeze your buttocks off.

Cabernet

I can’t entirely recall how I ended up coming across Cabernet, just that I knew one day that I wanted to give it a look.

There was a time when games based on World War II were all the rage, with releases ranging from first-person shooters to stealth based espionage.

SAND LAND

As someone who doesn't watch a lot of anime or read a ton of manga, I was very surprised to find out that Akira Toriyama had done more than just Dragon Ball.
