Homegrown start-ups Ola and Ather have played a significant role in kickstarting the electric two-wheeler revolution in the country. Within a remarkably short span of three to five years, Ola has emerged as the largest electric two-wheeler retailer in the country, while Ather has carved a niche for itself as a reliable and high-performing scooter brand.
However, so far, both companies have been backed by equity investment and have relied on government subsidies to establish themselves in India’s fledgling EV market.
