The Sports Champ magazine has always promoted and encouraged girls’ participation in sports. Even though the situation has changed a lot in the last few decades, there is much more to improve. The parents still hesitate to send their daughters to sports, especially some male-dominated sports like football. But the hosting of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Goa will change the scenario. As Bhaichung Bhutia, former captain of the Indian football team has rightly said, this tournament can create a lot of icons and awareness for girls and would encourage a lot of parents to allow their daughters to play football.
